Program Overview
In partnership with other local non-profit organizations, trained professionals, and community members, funded by corporate and private donations, we will begin helping to provide the following types of programs and activities:
Drop-In Youth Space: A supportive place for LGBTIQ youth to hang out, access resources and find community; our goal is to have access to Mental Health Services available during Drop-In, as well as a weekly Harm Reduction Group meeting. Youth who Drop-In will be able to enjoy snacks, watch TV, use our computers, create art work and get to know others.
Harm Reduction Group: This is a confidential place to seek nonjudgmental emotional and practical support to help deal with stressors of daily life. Drop-in Harm Reduction Therapy groups are available on a regular basis. Services including access to a 24-hour help line are available everyday.
Other Health Oriented Educational Workshops: In cooperation with other local non-profit organizations, workshops aimed at providing Health, Education and well-being are available to young people throughout middle schools and high schools. as well as various community-based organizations.
Topics include: Alcohol, Tobacco and Other Drugs; Anti-Homophobia Workshops; Body Image; Communication About Sex and Drug Use; Contraception and Pregnancy Prevention; Diversity; Eating Disorders; Family Dynamics; Healthy Relationships; Sexual Decision-Making; Oppression Issues; Puberty; Rape and Abusive Relationships; Reproductive Anatomy; STI Prevention Education; Self-Esteem; Suicide Prevention; and Violence Prevention.
College and Career Prep – Assistance with college applications and/or building a resume.
